GMap Image Viewer
The University of Wyoming Libraries, in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Herbarium, has developed an image viewer for herbarium specimens based on the Google Maps API. The viewer allows smooth zooming and panning on very large images with fast performance, and includes a measuring ruler that can display lengths in inches, centimeters, or any other desired unit. Image tiles are stored in a concatenated form on the server, significantly reducing the number of tile files for large imaging projects. The image viewer can be easily incorporated into nearly any web page with just a few lines of HTML and JavaScript. Learn more about the image viewer
